{"id":126,"date":"2023-05-20T10:15:05","date_gmt":"2023-05-20T10:15:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.martech-magic.com\/?p=126"},"modified":"2024-04-08T07:18:13","modified_gmt":"2024-04-08T07:18:13","slug":"acquisition-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.martech-magic.com\/index.php\/2023\/05\/20\/acquisition-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Acquisition Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s start with a simple question: How does a person become a program member?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course there&#8217;s the flow step &#8220;Change Program Status&#8221;. &#8220;Not in Program&#8221; removes a person from a program, and any other status adds them to the program. But how about automatic association to a program?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>Sent Email from a program?<\/td><td>No<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Opened, clicked an email in a program?<\/td><td>No<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Submitted form in a program?<\/td><td>No*<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Submitted form on a landing page in a program?<\/td><td>Yes<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Uploaded into list in a program?<\/td><td>No, but you can set an acquisition program in that process<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Imported into the program?<\/td><td>Yes, because you must set a member status<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Added via API?<\/td><td>No<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*Probably the most interesting one is the fact that a form submission only adds membership automatically, if that form is on an LP in that program. An embedded form &#8211; even if it lives in that program &#8211; does not add to program and thus does not create the Acquisition Program &#8211; and consequently also not the Acquisition Date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So if you care about Acquisition Program and Acquisition Date you need to set it through a Smart Campaign flow step. Please note that &#8220;Acquisition Program&#8221; can be overridden by that flow step, which &#8211; in most or all cases &#8211; you don&#8217;t want. It&#8217;s set automatically once the first association with a program occurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"484\" height=\"85\" src=\"https:\/\/www.martech-magic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-133\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.martech-magic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/image-1.png 484w, https:\/\/www.martech-magic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/image-1-300x53.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 484px) 100vw, 484px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(It&#8217;s a little odd that this setting of the Acquisition Date does not appear in the Activity History).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So what do you need the Acquisition Program association for? Mainly for reporting.
